Most of Raymore has been developed in subdivisions. The northern part of Raymore contains Creekmore, a golf community, and Heritage Hills. In central Raymore, Eagle Glen, Foxhaven and Silver Lake are the primary neighborhoods. Stonegate, Canter Ridge, Evanbrook, Shadowood and Wood Creek are located in southern Raymore.
The two main parks in Raymore are Memorial and Recreation Parks. Combined, these facilities provide more than 110 acres of space where locals can relax, play with friends or compete in organized sports leagues. Memorial Park has ample open space and therefore is a chosen venue for several community festivals. Recreation Park takes up a full 90 acres and is stocked with baseball and softball fields, soccer and football fields, and lighted courts for tennis and basketball.
Up until 30 years ago, Raymore’s development was relatively slow-paced. In 1960, the recorded population was a mere 268. Ten years later that number had more than doubled, but the resident base still only numbered 585. From 1970 forward, Raymore’s population growth took off, hitting more than 3,100 in 1980, 5,500 in 1990 and 11,100 in 2000. This growth has led to increased retail and commercial activity, with shops, restaurants and service providers opening their doors to meet the demands of new residents. All in all, Raymore is poised for a bright future.
